Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) is widely used in building materials, coatings, synthetic resins, ceramics, textiles, agriculture, cosmetics, tobacco and other industries. Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose is a kind of non-ionic cellulose ether, which is made from refined cotton, a natural macromolecular material, through a series of chemical processing. It is mainly used in the construction industry - water resistant putty powder, putty paste, tempered putty, paint glue, thermal insulation mortar and other dry powder building materials, with good water retention effect, easy construction, good brightness, viscosity and gel time can be customized according to customer requirements.

PRODUCT PROPERTY

  • Properties: This product is a white or slightly yellowish powder, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic.

  • Water solubility and thickening ability: This product can be dissolved in cold water to form a transparent viscous solution.

  • Dissolution in organic solvent: because it contains a certain amount of hydrophobic methoxy, the product can be dissolved in some organic solvents, or in the solvent mixed with water and organic substances.

  • Salt resistance: As this product is a non-ionic and non-polymeric electrolyte, it is relatively stable in the aqueous solution of metal salts or organic electrolytes.

  • Surface activity: The aqueous solution of this product has surface activity, which enables it to have an emulsifying effect, protect colloids, and provide relative stability.

  • Thermal gelling effect: When heated to a certain temperature, the aqueous solution of this product can become opaque, generate precipitation, and make the solution lose viscosity. However, it turns into the original solution state after gradually cooling. The temperature at which condensation and precipitation occur depends on the product type, solution concentration, and heating rate.

  • Low ash content: As this product is non-ionic, it can be effectively refined by washing with hot water during preparation, so its ash content is very low.

  • PH stability: The viscosity of the aqueous solution of this product is relatively stable in the range of pH 3.0–11.0. Water retention function: because this product is hydrophilic and its aqueous solution has high viscosity. It is added to mortar, gypsum, paint, etc., to maintain high water retention in products.

  • Shape retention: Compared with other water-soluble polymers, the aqueous solution of this product has special viscoelastic properties. Its addition has the ability to improve the shape of extruded ceramic products.

  • Lubricity: adding this product can reduce the friction coefficient and improve the lubricity of extruded ceramic products and cement products.

  • Film forming property: This product can produce strong, flexible, transparent sheets with good oil and ester resistance.

PACKAGING AND STORAGE

  • Packaging: plastic paper bag for external packaging, PVC plastic bag for internal packaging; net weight of each bag is 20 kg or 25 kg.

  • Storage: rain proof and sun proof, fire proof and damp proof, airtight and ventilated.

  • Transportation: transported as moisture-proof ordinary chemicals.
